Fremont County School District Job Title: Bus Driver Department: District Wide Reports To: Transportation Director Prepared Date: January 2010 Revised Date: August 2018 ABSTRACT To transport pupils of Fremont County School District in a safe and lawful manner. To provide pupils with a disciplined and trouble-free atmosphere on district vehicles under the guidance of the Transportation Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with all students and their legal guardians.
- Maintain discipline among all students.
- Meet emergency situations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip check on the vehicle and its special equipment.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Check and maintain all fuel levels on your assigned bus.
- Complete required reports in the prescribed manner.
- Maintain good rapport with fellow employees.
- Communicate effectively with transportation staff and school staff.
- Satisfactory complete required training programs.
- Adhere to all district, state, and federal policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Must maintain absolute confidentially.
- Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a minimum. Advanced training in school transportation preferable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate distances, fractions, other general math skills.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Class A or B Wyoming Driver's License with P & S Endorsement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Usual hours 6:00 am to 8:30 am, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, other hours as assigned, 185 days, at-will, classified salary schedule
