Building Management Systems Specialist at Unite Students
The Building Management Systems Specialist for Unite Students' Digital Property Systems is responsible for the end-to-end delivery, management, and continuous improvement of critical digital tools and platforms supporting property management, facilities operations, and environmental health and safety (EHS). These include Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS), Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Common Data Environments (CDE), Building Information Modelling (BIM), and related technologies such as Smart Building, BMS, CAAT, PPM & PM.
This role acts as a bridge between technical teams, business stakeholders, and operational users to ensure seamless system integration, performance, and value delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Define and maintain the strategic vision for digital property systems, aligning with business needs, sustainability goals, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop and manage roadmaps for systems like IWMS, CAFM, CMMS, and EAM, ensuring alignment with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory requirements across all systems.
- Oversee the lifecycle of digital property platforms, ensuring they deliver measurable business value.
- Manage SLAs and KPIs for each system.
- Monitor system integration across Smart Buildings, BMS, and IoT technologies.
- Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of BIM, CDE, CAAT, and PPM tools.
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to manage incidents, changes, and upgrades.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and oversee long-term solutions.
- Act as the primary contact for business stakeholders using these systems.
- Engage with facilities managers, project managers, EHS teams, and external vendors to meet operational needs.
- Build strong relationships with software providers and consultants for continuous improvement.
- Lead initiatives related to Smart Buildings and digital twins, integrating BMS, IoT, and data analytics.
- Optimize CAFM and CMMS for predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Champion the integration of EHS tools with other digital platforms to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking for in You
- Proven experience managing enterprise systems such as IWMS, CAFM, CMMS, EAM, or BIM.
- Strong knowledge of Smart Buildings, BMS, IoT, and system integration practices.
- Experience managing SLAs, KPIs, and budgets for digital systems.
- Experience with EHS platforms and their integration with property management systems.
- Understanding of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks related to digital property solutions.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in digital property management.
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
- Familiarity with project and portfolio management tools and practices.
- Relevant certifications such as BCS Service Management or ITIL 4.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Property Management, Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
