My client in Goodyear, Arizona is looking for a Building Inspector to perform inspections of residential, multifamily, HOA, and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building codes and construction practices, with a preference for candidates holding an EIT certification and experience in structural or civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections of buildings and structures at various stages of construction and remodeling.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations (including IBC, IRC, NEC, and local amendments).
  • Review construction plans and documents for code compliance.
  • Document inspection results, issue correction notices, and follow up on compliance.
  • Provide guidance and education to contractors, developers, and homeowners.
  • Investigate complaints and potential code violations.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports using inspection software.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain certifications and stay current with code changes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification.
  • Experience with multifamily, HOA, and commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Arizona-specific building codes and environmental conditions.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in building inspection or construction.
  • ICC certifications in at least one discipline (building, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing); multiple certifications preferred.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
