The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall successful operation of a branch location. Responsibilities include sales and customer service, merchandising, receiving, product deliveries, inventory control, safety, will call, counter sales / service, and supervision of staff. This role ensures all operational functions are completed in accordance with company policy and procedure while conveying a feeling of trust, service, security and satisfaction to customer and staff. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff management, scheduling, resolution of customer issues, displays, transfers, facility management, financial reporting, and building cleanliness & organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and trains qualified candidates for entry-level roles.
Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the branch.
Coaches, develops and leads the team.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, providing recommendations for promotion and salary adjustment as appropriate.
Essential Job Duties
Customer Interaction
Utilizes customer issues to train & coach staff in developing stronger customer alliances.
Consistently communicates to customers on sales, promotions, new products, and any other areas that support the education of customers and growth of business.
Provides excellent customer service through timely customer interaction, problem resolution or escalation with effective and efficient follow-up.
Establishes and maintains professional business dealings with customers and vendors at all times.
Supports valued business relationships in all dealings with related departments aiming to resolve customer and other issues in a timely manner. Approaches peers and customers with a spirit of positive problem resolution.
Staff Management
Supervises branch and other non-branch staff.
Prepares and conducts performance reviews for staff as well as conducts periodic evaluations and investigations as needed.
Uses the company progressive discipline tools to encourage superior work performance as well as document unsatisfactory work performance. Partners with HR and supervisor in handling employee issues as needed.
Manages branch staffing to ensure that appropriate staff levels are maintained for customer service and workflow.
Responsible for meeting targets and payroll budgetary goals through effective staff scheduling.
Enforces and supports all company policies, procedures, directives, and guidelines in accordance with legal and company standards.
Conducts regular touch-base meetings with branch staff.
Encourages and supports positive employee morale through fair treatment, consistent application of policies, thorough decision making, and leading by example.
Reviews and addresses timecard exceptions, assigning and adjusting schedules in the time clock management system.
Personally adheres to company policies, procedures, directives, and guidelines and holds staff accountable.
Facility and Equipment Management
Ensures the general safety, appearance, and maintenance of the branch facility. Communicates and addresses issues promptly with supervisor.
Ensures the daily opening and/or closing of the branch on time and in preparation for following day business needs.
Responsible for after-hours response of the burglar and fire system in the event of an alarm.
Ensures truck and vehicle maintenance, service, cleanliness, and inspection.
Ensures material handling equipment maintenance, service, cleanliness, and inspection.
Conducts daily inspections and promptly reports and addresses issues.
Conduct branch facility inspections.
Purchasing/Receiving/Transfers
Communicates large volume orders that exceed normal usage and intend to deplete stock levels.
Communicates new item requests.
Trains staff on retrieving product information through manufacturer websites.
Ensures prompt product stocking before end of next business day after receipt.
Inventory
Ensures accurate inventory levels.
Reports daily inventory counts.
Ensures prompt reporting of damaged inventory.
Maintains accurate locations and labels for all product in the branch.
Warranty
Ensures warranty items are promptly processed.
Safety
Ensures a safe work environment to all vendors, customers, and staff.
Promotes a safe work environment by adhering to safety policies. Quickly addresses unsafe conditions.
Adequately achieves assigned branch safety goals.
Drives the safety culture of the branch, including daily safety walks and audits weekly safety meetings, and spot inspections.
Conducts thorough accident / incident / injury investigations. Immediately reports safety incidences to appropriate parties, taking immediate action to address unsafe conditions and occurrences. Completes safety paperwork on time and accurately reports all related elements
Financial Reporting
Responsible for following all cash handling procedures, including daily deposits and balancing.
Follow company procedures relating to credit authorizations.
Planning/Training
Identifies branch issues requiring discussion, provide status updates on ongoing branch projects, and initiatives relating to sales opportunities.
Ensures timely and complete staff training & development for new hires as well as existing employees.
Maintains training area for branch, coordinates training meetings with customers, vendors, and company personnel.
Promotes efforts to raise the level of job and product knowledge within the branch.
Sales and Promotions
Monitors new account sales and existing account sales.
Supports and ensures adequate branch sales, meeting sales goals as established.
Conducts sales analysis and investigations by customer, product, vendor, category, etc.
Maintains the branch queue per company procedures in company enterprise technical systems.
Other
Safety Sensitive Position: the ability to perform job functions in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Maintains proficiency with company computer systems in aspects related to job, such as data entry, messaging, call logs, data notations, queue updates, batching, or other job & office functions and requirements

Preferred Job Requirements
5 or more years' experience with distribution and related functions.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in management, business, or a related field or the equivalent in relatable work experience.
3 or more years' experience with distribution and related functions
Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis.
Use computers, photocopiers, scanners, phone systems and meeting and virtual platform sharing relative to the needs of the job.
Minimum keyboarding skills of 40 words per minute.
