The Maintenance Technician, Facilities is responsible for ensuring the facilities at Bakerly Ranch are running safely and functioning optimally while troubleshooting and quickly resolving maintenance issues that arise. This includes oversight, documentation, repair, and maintenance completed with the highest safety, quality, and GMP standards. The Maintenance Technician, Facilities will focus on general maintenance to include refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, lighting, plumbing, soft water systems, boiler and steam systems, fleet vehicles, and will contribute to automation and controls maintenance projects as a critical part of the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, perform, and execute facility maintenance activities and communicate changes impacting the plant and production. This includes oversight of all refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, plumbing, lighting, and other general facility maintenance completed with the highest safety, quality, and GMP standards.
  • Support maintenance team during production line stop or major intervention.
  • Inspect and review facility equipment installations for design and troubleshooting purposes and maintain all documentation related to refrigeration, water, and chemical usage as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment involved with the ammonia refrigeration system and roof top units.
  • Coordinate schedules and delegate tasks to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Propose, execute, and monitor facility, machinery, and equipment adjustments. Consistently perform all tasks necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operations, changeovers, and shutdowns
  • Identify, implement, and document maintenance and reliability best practices and document and train staff on them.
  • Exemplify and enforce department rules, procedures, and best practices.
  • Consistently use lock out / tag out procedures to isolate equipment prior to working on equipment as attention to detail and focus on safety will be critical in this role.
  • Read and comprehend technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to understand workload and record actions.
  • Operate material handling equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, properly maintain tools per Bakerly GMP policies and maintain OSHA regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience performing diverse facility maintenance including electrical and HVAC systems in a manufacturing environment. Ammonia experience is preferred.
  • 2 years' experience in industrial refrigeration (e.g., valve rebuilds, working with refrigeration systems). Experience with ammonia-based refrigeration systems is preferred.
  • RETA 1 certification and EPA refrigeration license.
  • Experience with air compressors and associated control systems.
  • Experience with boilers, steam generators and water softeners.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) to look up part location/availability on computer using maintenance software
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate with managers, technicians, contractors, and be able to explain electrical/mechanical processes and theory.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, heights, in and around machinery and chemicals.
  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities; both in and out of the department.
  • Basic knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly using proper lifting techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
