CHATHAM PARKWAY TOYOTA Body Shop Painter Job Summary: The Painter is responsible for refinishing damaged vehicle body parts and entire vehicle bodies in line with factory and dealership quality standards and timelines.
Key Responsibilities: - Equipment Operation & Safety: Operate and use all body shop tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Surface Preparation: Remove rust, grease, and dirt from surfaces to prepare for painting.
- Masking & Protection: Mask and protect areas of the vehicle not being painted or coated.
- Filling & Smoothing: Fill cavities and dents with putty to ensure a smooth surface for painting.
- Paint Mixing: Mix paint to specifications, ensuring accurate color matching.
- Painting Application: Apply paint using spray guns or brushes as required, achieving a smooth, even finish.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect painted surfaces for runs, sags, and unpainted areas to ensure high-quality results.
- Wax Coating: Heat and spray wax onto products post-testing to ensure durability.
- Tool Maintenance: Maintain tools and keep equipment clean and in proper working condition.
- Work Area Maintenance: Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Safety Compliance: Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, and follow manufacturer recommendations for use.
- Regulatory Adherence: Follow all laws and regulations concerning hazardous materials, such as paint and thinners, and report any non-compliance to management.
- Collaboration: Work with other team members to repair and prepare vehicles for painting.
- Compliance Awareness: Stay informed of federal, state, and local regulations impacting body shop operations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know guidelines.
