Job Summary:

The BCBA is responsible for assessing, designing, implementing, and monitoring behavior intervention plans and programs to improve socially significant behaviors. The BCBA works with individuals, typically those with developmental disabilities, to reduce problematic behaviors and increase functional skills. This role involves collaboration with other professionals, caregivers, and families to ensure comprehensive and consistent application of behavior plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assessment and Evaluation:

- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and other assessments to identify the functions of behavior.

- Utilize various assessment tools and data collection methods to evaluate client behavior and skill levels.

- Program Development:

- Design individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment results and client needs.

- Develop and implement skill acquisition programs to teach functional skills.

- Ensure programs are evidence-based and aligned with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

- Implementation and Monitoring:

- Train and supervise Behavior Technicians and other staff in the implementation of BIPs and ABA techniques.

- Monitor the implementation of behavior intervention plans and make data-driven adjustments as necessary.

- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to evaluate client progress and program effectiveness.

- Collaboration and Communication:

- Work collaboratively with other professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, teachers) and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

- Provide training and support to caregivers and family members on behavior management strategies.

- Maintain clear and regular communication with clients, families, and other stakeholders regarding progress and changes to intervention plans.

- Documentation and Compliance:

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, assessments, and session notes.

- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Stay current with advancements in the field of behavior analysis through continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

- Education: Master's degree or higher in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or a related field.

- Certification: Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) license from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

- Experience: Prior experience in conducting behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Work Environment:

- The BCBA may work in various settings, including schools, clinics, homes, and community centers.

- The role may require travel to different client locations and flexibility in work hours.

Physical Requirements:

- The position may involve physical activities such as playing with clients, implementing behavior plans, and occasionally managing challenging behaviors.

- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment related to behavior programs.
