Chapel Hill- Carrboro City Schools Job Description Job Title: Blue Ribbon Specialist Salary Schedule: Reports To: Lorie Clark Salary Grade: Work Location: Sheryl Mar FLSA Status: Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, evenings, weekends (times vary) Position Summary The Blue Ribbon Specialist will provide program support for elementary and middle school scholars, families, and mentor advocates. The position requires a forward and critical thinker who can identify programs, events, and enrichment to enhance a scholar's academic and personal experience and growth. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and in a collaborative environment. Additional qualities include someone who enjoys working with youth, can connect with families, understands the role, and can support the Mentor Advocate. Essential Duties Coordinate and facilitate the Office of Equity and Blue Ribbon's programs, summer enrichment camps, retreats, alternative spring breaks, affinity groups, clubs, and district initiatives Serve as a liaison to organizations to promote the school system's equity initiatives and strategic plan Recruit and screen potential scholars and Mentor Advocates Monitor matches by checking in with scholars, Mentor Advocates, and families Organize and facilitate special programs for scholars, Mentor Advocates, and families; Identify resources and opportunities to support scholars in their academic, social, and emotional experience, including tutorials and enrichment experiences Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Leadership & Engagement and Blue Ribbon Mentor Advocate Education/Experience Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Racial Equity, or Social Work from an accredited college or university Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to implement and use a variety of technology platforms Experience and a high level of comfortability working with a diverse group of scholars from various backgrounds, cultures, races, religions, and social orientations Experience facilitating small and large student groups and working with families Experience working with mentors and community organizations is highly preferred Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Leadership & Engagement and Blue Ribbon Mentor Advocate program Physical Requirements Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards Disclosure This document provides descriptive information about the above Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School position.
