Self-Perform Construction is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical BIM Detailer. You will support the concept, design, construction, and as-built documentation of a variety of new and renovation to existing industrial, R&D and office facilities across the Bay Area. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex mechanical utility systems integrated with manufacturing processes; and can multi-task and collaborate technically with several disciplines.
What You'll Do
- Develop design documents and deliverables in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD and Revit
- Produce construction execution milestones for architectural, electrical, mechanical, and additional disciplines with guidance from construction managers
- Model and produce drawings that meet the design requirements, including responsibility for such details as duct and pipe sizing, placement of equipment, central plant layouts, inter-disciplinary coordination, and detailing for construction documentation
- Develop clash-free design models (LOD 300) in Revit and Navisworks
- Develop fabrication-level models (LOD 400-500) for onsite assembly for certain specialty systems
- Perform pre-design site surveys and construction phase site observations
- Optimize pipe and duct routing and troubleshoot complex, large-scale mechanical systems
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years of experience working on industrial, institutional, or R&D projects
- Advanced level knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, CADWorks, and BIM coordination
- Experience as a detailed designer in Mechanical Design within a high-tech industry (semi-conductor, pharmaceutical, or industrial design experience is a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of common construction materials and methods, especially within MEP divisions with understanding of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Airflow Diagrams, and Electrical One Line Diagrams
- Familiar with Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs)
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam. Experience with Pipe-Flo or Carrier HAP is a plus
- Working knowledge of current building codes and SMACNA
