Conrad Metlitzky Kane is a fast-growing litigation boutique founded by a trio of former Assistant United States Attorneys. Our attorneys are trial lawyers who hail from top law schools and law firms. Billing and Accounts Manager
Conrad Metlitzky Kane seeks a Billing and Accounts Manager to help manage its financial operations. The position will require 20 hours per week to start, with the potential to transition into a full-time role. While the position is primarily remote, the position requires occasional attendance of in-person meetings at our San Francisco office. Applicants should have outstanding references and the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 2-3 years of experience in billing and accounts management, preferably in a law firm setting, including responsibility for invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, and limited accounting functions
- Familiarity with legal timekeeping systems (e.g., Bill4Time) and legal billing platforms (e.g., SimpleGo, BillingPoint, Legal Tracker), and proficiency with Microsoft, Google, and other standard office software environments (MSOffice Suite, GSuite, Adobe Acrobat)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and excellent judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information in communications with firm personnel, clients, and vendors
- A self-starter with a sense of humor, camaraderie, curiosity, grit, and adventure
Our Billing and Accounts Manager has the following responsibilities:
- Invoicing & Billing: Review and issue invoices in accordance with firm policies and client requirements. Audit and reconcile billing rates, time entries, and expenses for accuracy. Manage the firm's profile on billing platforms such as SimpleGo, BillingPoint, and Legal Tracker.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Monitor and manage the firm's accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Trust Account Management: Oversee client trust accounts, ensuring compliance with State Bar regulations and firm policies. Monitor and reconcile balances and proper handling of client funds.
- Banking: Oversee the processing of wires from the firm's operating and IOLTA accounts and conduct monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy of credit card and banking statements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Analyze financial statements, billing reports, and cash flow summaries. Review and categorize expenses, identify and resolve discrepancies in reporting.
- Manage External Relationships: Manage relationships with external financial partners, including banks, tax advisors, and auditors.
