What You'll Be Doing:

As our Payroll/HR Assistant, you'll serve as the backbone of our human resources and payroll operations. From managing employee records to ensuring payroll runs without a hitch, your role will be vital in creating a productive and positive workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Paychex Duties:

  • Maintain and update employee records using Paychex


  • Prepare personnel documentation including evaluations and union eligibility data


  • Process time-off requests, leaves, and attendance records


  • Support employment status changes (layoffs, suspensions, terminations)


Human Resources Support:

  • Assist with daily HR operations and provide administrative support across departments


  • Manage documentation for new union and welfare fund members


  • Oversee employee uniforms, lockers, ID badges, and key fobs


  • Help coordinate interviews, onboarding, and new hire training


  • Respond to employee questions and resolve HR-related concerns in a timely and professional manner


  • Support HR, Tax, and Union departments with various data and reporting needs


  • Ensure compliance with workplace rules, grievance procedures, and internal policies


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (required)


  • Prior payroll experience (Paychex preferred)


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail


  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines


  • Tech-savvy with MS Office and common HR tools


  • A people-first mindset with solid problem-solving abilities


Education Required:

  • Associate's degree or higher
