Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and results-oriented Human Resources Generalist with a deep understanding of Texas employment law and safety regulations. In this role, you will oversee the implementation and management of HR policies, employee relations, compliance with state and federal labor laws, and workplace safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who is comfortable working independently and can effectively manage complex employee relations issues, while ensuring the company's HR strategies align with legal and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Texas Employment Law Compliance:
- Ensure the company's policies, practices, and procedures comply with all applicable Texas labor laws and regulations (eg, wage and hour laws, family leave, employee rights, anti-discrimination policies).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to Texas employment laws and apply them to company operations.
- Provide guidance and training on Texas-specific legal requirements to managers and staff.
- Employee Relations:
- Act as the point of contact for all employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and addressing employee concerns.
- Counsel and advise leadership on performance management, discipline, and termination processes to ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Mediate and resolve employee disputes and promote positive working relationships across all departments.
- Foster a culture of open communication and transparency to maintain high employee engagement and morale.
- Workplace Safety & Health Compliance:
- Develop and enforce workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Regularly assess safety practices and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct safety training and ensure that employees are well-versed in safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Monitor and manage workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect best practices and comply with state and federal laws, especially focusing on California-specific regulations.
- Monitor and evaluate HR policies to ensure they are effective, aligned with organizational goals, and legally compliant.
- HR Administration:
- Oversee employee onboarding, benefits administration, performance evaluations, and compensation management.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all HR-related documentation.
- Manage HR databases and records in compliance with privacy laws.
- Training & Development:
- Provide training and support for managers and employees on HR-related topics, including Texas labor law, workplace safety, and effective conflict resolution.
- Identify opportunities for employee development and career progression in line with organizational goals.
- Self-Driven Initiatives:
- Act independently to improve HR functions, implement strategic initiatives, and streamline HR processes.
- Demonstrate self-direction and ownership of tasks, identifying areas for improvement and leading change within the HR department.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, with at least 3 years focused on Texas-specific employment law, safety regulations, and employee relations.
- Professional HR certification (eg, SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Texas employment laws, including wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination laws, workplace safety regulations, and family leave policies.
- Experience managing employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate HR policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
