Position Summary: Bethesda Health Clinic is seeking a dynamic, bilingual (English/Spanish) Community & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to lead our volunteer program and community outreach efforts. This role is equal parts relationship-builder, organizer, and champion of our mission - connecting hearts and hands to the healing work happening every day at Bethesda.
The Community & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will oversee all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and appreciation for both Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope thrift stores. This person will also assist as a liaison to local churches and community groups.
This role requires someone who want to honor Christ and loves people and connecting them to the mission of Bethesda.
Key Responsibilities:Volunteer Program Leadership - Recruit, interview, and place volunteers for the clinic and thrift stores
- Organize volunteer orientations, background checks, and necessary trainings
- Manage volunteer schedules, placements, and ongoing communication
- Maintain volunteer database and produce monthly reports
- Plan and lead volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts, including an annual event
- Ensure volunteers feel valued, equipped, and connected to Bethesda's mission
Community & Church Outreach - Develop relationships with local churches, congregations, businesses, and civic groups
- Represent Bethesda at local events, fairs, and church gatherings to recruit volunteers and share the mission
- Coordinate church volunteer days and service projects
- Maintain clear communication with local pastors, volunteer leaders, and community partners
- Assist with physician and specialist volunteer relations and engagement
Administrative & Organizational Support - Collaborate with clinic and thrift store leadership to assess volunteer needs
- Draft and maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and best practices
- Support special events, outreach campaigns, and donor/volunteer communications as needed
- Provide general administrative support for volunteer and community engagement efforts
Skills & Competencies: - Bilingual: Fluent in both English & Spanish (required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong relationship-building and public speaking abilities
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Comfortable with data entry, reporting, and volunteer management software
- Creative, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Passionate about service, outreach, and community impact
- A self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, mission-oriented team
Education & Experience: - Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience in volunteer management, community outreach, ministry, or nonprofit work strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management required
Work Schedule: - Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Frequent evening and weekend hours required for events and outreach"
