The Data Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for the support and urgent operational needs of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment through on-call rotation to resolve issues. We structure data to improve usability across all of Delta Community Credit Union. You will monitor job status, resolve issues, as well as develop and share root cause analysis for issues encountered. This role will work to ensure that the EDW is operating within established SLAs for our end users use. In addition, you will work on smaller level enhancements to the EDW and/or MicroStrategy environments. This role also performs the task of release management, ensuring the promotion of data objects from the development stage to production for end user availability.

The successful candidate will have a working level knowledge of Python, Teradata, ELT processes, and a keen attention to detail. You will report to the Operations and Development Manager.

Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for monitoring, supporting and management of processes running in production including managing and correcting issues and providing break-fix operation support.

• Troubleshoot technical issues

• Facilitate post-mortem analysis of issues with key stakeholders to mitigate future occurrences of a problem

• Provide users with progress updates

• Prepare extensive documentation when logging product issues including observations, diagnoses, and action steps

• Generate weekly reports summarizing production performance and troubleshooting guides

• Take a new perspective on existing solutions to solve problems of moderate to high complexity and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

• Provide support for small data engineering projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; plays significant roles in larger, more complex initiatives

• Should be flexible to support additional tasks of Release Management

• Participate in defect prevention analysis and code review activities

• Ability to support the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) 24x7 job monitoring and troubleshooting

Job QualificationsMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or 3+ years' experience in a comparable role.

• Ability to construct and debug complex SQL queries

• Ability to construct and debug complex Python scripts

• Ability to operate with cross-functional teams (e.g., business analysts, data science, engineers, etc.)

• Demonstrated track record working with data warehouse and ETL architectures and concepts plus

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Able to work all hours scheduled, including time outside standard business hours as directed by manager/supervisor and required by business need

• Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science or related field

• Experience with Wherescape Red, Teradata, and/or MicroStrategy

• Experience supporting data science or data governance initiatives

• Credit Union or Financial Services Industry experience.
