Kavaliro's client is actively seeking a Business Intelligence Architect to help support an IT project. This is a contract opportunity that sits remote in Colorado.
This role will involve reviewing the existing data environment, processes, and collaborating with program staff to better understand business processes and technical needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, specifically in data analysis and coding, along with excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The primary responsibility will be production of comprehensive technical business requirements and data processing documentation, for the purpose of supporting development and maintenance of Accountability DPF and SPF Reporting infrastructure and processes. The incumbent is expected to be technically self-sufficient and be able to navigate the data environment without technical support.
The Contractor may be asked to work with associated systems and programs including Oracle, Toad, Informatica, Tableau, and coding languages including SQL, Python, and R.
The Contractor shall work closely and collaboratively with the Department's Information Management Services division (IMS) about Department coding standards, configuration management controls, quality assurance processes and information security. Additionally, collaboration is expected with IMS's business intelligence unit for any planned transition of data to, storing of data within, or reporting of data from the Department's Data Warehouse.
The Contractor shall coordinate and prioritize all work to ensure that all Deliverables and Deadlines (as defined below in this Statement of Work (SOW are met.
The Contractor shall employ an internal quality control process to ensure that all Deliverables are complete, accurate, easy to understand, and of high quality.
The Contractor shall provide Deliverables that, at a minimum, are responsive to the specific requirements, organized into a logical order, contain no spelling or grammatical errors, formatted uniformly, and contain accurate information and correct calculations.
Contractor shall submit each Deliverable to the Department's Project Managers for review and approval.
The Contractor shall retain all work papers generated for reference through the duration of the project and project acceptance.
The Contractor shall participate in the review and revision process, until the Department provides written acceptance of the Deliverable.
Upon request by the Department, within five (5) days of the request, the Contractor shall provide copies of any supporting documentation to the Department without charge.
The Contractor shall respond to all telephone calls, voicemails, and e-mail inquiries
from the Department within one (1) Business day of receiving such calls, voicemails, or email inquiries.
The Contractor shall enable all Contractor staff to exchange documents and electronic files with the Department staff in formats compatible with the Department's systems.
The Department currently uses Microsoft Office 365 for PC.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
Code and Data Review:
Review and analyze the current data processes and code used to generate State Performance Framework (SPF) reports.
Identify inefficiencies, inconsistencies, or errors in the code and data flow.
Collaborate with technical teams to assess and improve data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Provide recommendations for enhancing the codebase for optimal performance and accuracy in report generation.
Business Process Mapping and Documentation:
Engage with program staff to understand and document the business and processes involved in generating state performance framework reports.
Document business rules associated with production of state performance framework reports.
Create process maps and workflows to illustrate current practices and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure alignment between business requirements and technical solutions by gathering and analyzing user needs.
Requirements Gathering and Documentation:
Lead sessions with program staff, subject matter experts, and technical teams to gather, clarify, and document business and technical requirements.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications for data and reporting systems.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for current and future state business processes, ensuring that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the project scope and deliverables.

Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business units, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Facilitate meetings with program staff and stakeholders to review requirements, share findings, and propose improvements.
Support ongoing communication efforts to ensure alignment of project goals with business objectives.
