We're on the lookout for a dynamic Head Teacher to lead our Before/After School Program for the 2025-26 school year at Candlewood Elementary School in Brookfield, CT. As the Head Teacher, you'll be the driving force behind every aspect of the operation of the Healthy Kids Program Site.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $20.00 per hour; must work at least 15 hours per week
Schedule: Before School 7:00 am - 9:00 am, After School 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
JOB CONSISTS OF:
Guiding Compliance: Ensure that both staff and program adhere to state guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and the rules set by our host school.
Bringing the Fun: Direct engaging hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids
Curriculum, covering fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. Plus, don't forget about homework completion you'll be the ultimate homework hero.
Managing like a Boss: Take charge of essential management tasks, including maintaining accurate attendance and registration records, and ensuring proper staffing levels to keep the program running smoothly.
Keeping Everyone in the Loop: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and family members through the Playground App.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively and regularly with your direct report, ensuring they're up to speed on daily occurrences and addressing any issues that arise in a timely manner. By working together as a cohesive team, we'll provide the highest quality of care, foster a positive working environment, and proactively tackle any challenges that come our way.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To be qualified as a head teacher, a person must possess either:
Option 1: At least three (3) credits school age or elementary education from a regionally accredited higher education institution AND at least two hundred and forty (240) hours of documented supervised experience working directly with a group of school age children in a licensed child care program, licensed youth camp program or an equivalent program as determined at the sole discretion of the office.
Option 2: A degree in any field PLUS current Connecticut State Department of Education elementary education teacher certification AND at least 240 hours of documented supervised experience working directly with a group of school age children in a licensed child care program, licensed youth camp program or an equivalent program as determined at the sole discretion of the office.
Option 3: A high school diploma PLUS completion of the 45 hours of school age / elementary education online training via OEC Registry account as designated by the OEC AND at least 240 hours of documented supervised experience working directly with a group of school age children in a licensed child care program, licensed youth camp program or an equivalent program as determined at the sole discretion of the office.
