Blue Chip Talent is looking for a Battery Validation Technician (Failure Analysis Technician) in Hayward, California. In this role, you'll support cell technology development by assisting with failure analysis, equipment maintenance, and battery testing. You'll collaborate with engineers to refine analysis methods, maintain lab equipment, and ensure efficient battery characterization.
THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Assist engineers with conducting battery failure analysis and reporting findings.
- Lead routine lab characterization of battery materials and maintain detailed records of collected data
- Support and perform battery teardowns, adhering to safety protocols
- Manage and maintain lab equipment, ensuring readiness for analysis and troubleshooting basic issues
- Monitor lab operations to ensure smooth functionality and collaborate with engineers to resolve equipment performance challenges
- Assist in updating and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for battery characterization and testing to improve workflow efficiency
- Collaborate with engineers to diagnose and troubleshoot characterization equipment, reporting issues for resolution
- Foster collaboration within the cross-functional team and contribute to core values
THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree with some experience as a technician, preferably in failure analysis, battery characterization, or the use of routine lab equipment
- Basic understanding of general laboratory equipment such as microscopes, FTIR, TGA, XRD, etc. Use or understanding of a CT machine is a plus, but not required
- Hands-on experience performing routine tasks in a battery laboratory, with an understanding of standard safety protocols and equipment maintenance
- Strong organizational skills to assist with day-to-day tasks related to assembly, testing, and lab maintenance, ensuring consistency in workflow and communication of progress
- Maintain an excellent record-keeping of observations detected, ability to prioritize daily work with little assistance, and make data-driven decisions
- Good written and verbal communication skills to help with routine reporting and collaboration with cross-functional teams on basic lab and assembly tasks
