This is a part-time, seasonal position available from May to September.

Position Summary: Bartenders of Bellerive Country Club ("Bellerive") prepare, pour, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Requires knowledge of all aspects of mixology including food/wine pairings and wine presentation and service.

Core Four Competencies :
  • Ensures bar is fully stocked and all pre-opening duties are efficiently completed to maintain seamless operations.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages with precision, adhering to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of department functions, daily club activities, special events, and operating schedules.
  • Upholds all state and local regulations, as well as Bellerive policies, to ensure responsible and lawful service of alcoholic beverages.
Job Responsibilities :
  • Inspect the bar before opening to ensure adequate supplies are available; request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar. Ensures bar stock is maintained at all times.
  • Follows set-up procedures; prepare garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks before opening the bar.
  • Greet members and guests.
  • Prepare, mix, and serve drinks for Members and guests, as well as fulfill drink orders from Food and Beverage Servers, following approved standard recipes.
  • Record and/or collect payment information for drinks served.
  • Report complaints to a manager as they occur.
  • Clean and lock the bar area according to prescribed closing procedures.
  • Ensures that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards from occurring, and takes precautions against possible spoilage.
  • Attend staff meetings including pre-shift (line-up) sessions and training as required.
  • Carefully follows all laws and Bellerive policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs the manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
  • Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Mixologist or other members of Bellerive's leadership team.
Requirements
  • Must have the ability to show skill at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.
  • Must have the ability to comply with basic safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Must have the ability to learn basic knowledge of Bellerive's POS system or comparable POS system.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple projects and have strong project and time management skills. Must possess high attention to detail.
  • Must display an aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take direction, and exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Must use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
  • Ability to simultaneously process routine daily functions, resolve sensitive issues, and complete complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to travel as required/necessary.
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for them to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday and having the ability to transport fifty (50) pounds.
Qualifications / Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or a related field, or in pursuit thereof, preferred.
  • Alcohol beverage and food safety certification required.
  • Hepatitis A vaccination required per St. Louis County regulations.
  • Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverage required.
  • One (1) year or more experience in Bartending required. Prior work experience in a private club environment preferred.
