POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, ensures that all of our customers are provided with outstanding quality food and service. Greets customers and takes their order, prepares orders and manages payment of orders. Meets and maintains high standards of food safety, quality, presentation, and service. Maintains par levels for all items to be sold and all ingredients needed for daily preparation of all menu items. Maintains clean and presentable work and dining areas, assuring a welcoming and sanitary environment at all times. Understands and prepares all menu items and follows recipes with high standards for quality, appearance and taste. Keeps equipment in good working condition by proper use, maintenance, sanitation, troubleshooting and calling for repairs when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Excellent verbal communication skills required to communicate with customers; Ability to follow and understand detailed written and verbal instructions; Ability to organize and prioritize work while still meeting the needs of customers as they arise; Ability to respond to changes in pace productively and efficiently; Ability to attend to detail; Ability to independently complete basic math and accurately count back change; and Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Oregon Food Handler's card or equivalent required by end of month from 30 days of hire and maintained.

Preferred: Barista experience. Food service and/or customer service experience. Knowledge of sanitation guidelines or ServSafe certification.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Medium physical demand level. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to bend, stoop, stretch, twist and turn while performing manual tasks that require manual dexterity. Ability to stand for an extended period of up to 3 hours continuously. Ability to ambulate with hot items in a safe manner. Ability to perform repetitive tasks for up to 3 hours continuously. Must be able to tolerate extremes of noise, temperature, and humidity. Must be able to work without direct supervision. Must be able to meet set timelines and work under pressure. Must be able to operate equipment needed to complete tasks per job description. Must be able to see food preparation tasks to completion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction regarding timeliness and quality. Consistently provides excellent customer service to all customers. Accepts responsibility for solving problems to the customers' satisfaction in a timely, effective, and respectful manner.
  • Prepares beverages and food for customers in a manner that promotes quality, consistency and food safety.
  • Setup and breakdown of area at beginning and end of shift.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working area.
  • Handles stress and pressure and has the ability to make decisions.
  • Actively participates in maintaining quality assurance procedures throughout shift. Routinely tests effectiveness of sanitizer concentration, water temperatures, food temperatures, refrigerator/freezer temperatures and alerts management when temps are out of range.
  • Will be responsible for all aspects of the coffee shop; including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing, stocking, ordering supplies/ingredients, opening and closing, inventory, cash reconciliation, equipment maintenance.
  • Follow health and safety standards at all times to assure cross contamination never occurs. Report kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes.
  • Meets all expectations of general and specific job tasks.
  • Understands, supports, and complies with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Sky Lakes Medical Center.
