Azure Virtual Desktop Specialist (North Detroit only - no remote)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Tier 3 Managed Service Provider (MSP) Engineer with specialized expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementation, configuration, and administration. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and maintaining virtualized desktop infrastructure for our enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Virtual Desktop and Infrastructure Management
  • Perform comprehensive design and implementation of Azure Virtual Desktop environments
  • Configure and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, application groups, and workspace configurations
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for AVD infrastructure
Active Directory Administration
  • Manage user account lifecycles in Active Directory (on-premises and Azure AD)
  • Create, modify, and delete user, group, and computer accounts
  • Implement and maintain group policies across the organization
  • Configure and manage organizational units (OUs)
  • Handle user access controls and permissions
  • Troubleshoot authentication and access issues
  • Manage password policies and implement password reset procedures
  • Perform regular security audits of user accounts and access rights
Day-to-Day Administrative Tasks
  • Conduct daily health checks of Azure and on-premises infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization
  • Manage and respond to service desk tickets
  • Perform routine maintenance and system updates
  • Conduct regular security vulnerability assessments
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery processes
  • Coordinate with vendor support for critical infrastructure components
  • Maintain and update IT asset inventories
Advanced Technical Support
  • Provide in-depth troubleshooting of complex AVD deployment and connectivity issues
  • Design and execute migration strategies from legacy desktop infrastructure to Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Create and maintain PowerShell and Azure CLI scripts for AVD automation
  • Provide advanced technical support and guidance to lower-tier support teams
Technical Requirements

Azure and Virtualization Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop architecture
  • Proficient in Azure Portal and Azure PowerShell administration
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory and Conditional Access policies
  • Understanding of Windows 10/11 multi-session operating systems
  • Expertise in Remote Desktop Services (RDS) technologies
  • Knowledge of FSLogix profile management and configuration
Active Directory and Identity Management
  • Expert-level knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
  • Proficiency in Active Directory Users and Computers management
  • Experience with Group Policy Object (GPO) design and implementation
  • Understanding of LDAP, Kerberos, and authentication protocols
  • Knowledge of identity synchronization (Azure AD Connect)
  • Familiarity with multi-domain and forest trust configurations
Infrastructure and Networking
  • Deep understanding of Azure networking concepts
  • Experience with virtual network design and implementation
  • Proficiency in configuring Azure network security groups
  • Knowledge of load balancing and high availability configurations
  • Understanding of Azure identity and access management
Technical Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification (preferred)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in enterprise virtualization technologies
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional on-call and after-hours support may be required
Qualifications

Salary goes up to $100,000 (depending on experience) with comprehensive benefits.
