Job Title: AWS Glue Architect / SME (Design and Architecture with Coding)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled AWS Glue Architect / SME to join our team in a hybrid capacity, based in McKinney, TX. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in designing and architecting ETL solutions with AWS Glue, while also being hands-on with coding when required. The role is perfect for a professional who thrives on technical challenges and enjoys a balance of strategic architecture and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions using AWS Glue and related AWS services.
Develop and optimize ETL pipelines and workflows in AWS Glue.
Perform hands-on coding with SQL, Scala, and Python to implement ETL transformations, data ingestion, and data processing tasks.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Ensure solutions align with best practices for cloud architecture, performance, and security.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on AWS Glue and related technologies.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance and data quality issues in ETL pipelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

7+ years of experience in AWS solution architecture and design at US companies.
Proven experience as an AWS Glue Architect/SME in designing and developing complex data solutions.
Expertise in AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, AWS S3, and other relevant AWS services.
Proficiency in SQL, Scala, and Python for ETL development.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, data lakes, and data warehousing concepts.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work in a hybrid environment.
Experience with big data tools like Apache Spark and Hadoop.
Strong knowledge of cloud security, scalability, and cost optimization techniques.
Experience with data modeling, ETL pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent certification.
Background in leading hybrid or remote teams.
Expertise with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence in McKinney, TX.
