AWS Lead Architect

Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid: 1 day/week onsite)

Contract Duration: 1 year

Rate: $65/hour

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card (No C2C; W2 or 1099 only)

Client Overview: IT consultancy supporting local and state government agencies in digital implementations.


Job Description

We're seeking an AWS Lead Architect to work on-site one day per week in downtown Sacramento. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing and implementing AWS-based solutions, particularly for large-scale, high-volume systems. This individual must have outstanding communication skills to interface with clients effectively.


Must-Have Qualifications
  • 12+ years of demonstrated experience as the primary person responsible for managing complex technology implementations and continuous improvement of at least two (2) digital solutions.
  • 12+ years of demonstrated experience as the lead architect of digital service projects leveraging Microsoft technology and development platforms to implement and maintain high-volume OLTP systems.
  • Valid AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) certification.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement modern AWS-based solutions to address evolving business challenges.
  • Enhance and optimize existing systems by integrating the latest AWS technologies.
Additional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years architecting and managing large data systems, components, tools, and technologies.
  • 5+ years utilizing AWS managed services.
  • 8+ years working in enterprise AWS cloud infrastructure and implementing AWS cloud applications.
  • 5+ years covering the full DevOps lifecycle (architecture, infrastructure, automation, and operations).
  • 3+ years with web services development (REST/Web API in AWS API Gateway or message-based systems such as Kafka/Confluent), including integration, deployment, and management.
  • 3+ years building/debugging DevOps workflows on a CI/CD platform.
  • Experience with DHCS (Department of Health Care Services) programs is preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience working on health information data system projects is preferred.
  • Development experience working with Git repositories.
  • Experience developing and implementing software using agile methodology (Scrum).
  • Experience with NoSQL or open-source RDBMS technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) is preferred.
  • Experience handling large data sets and scaling storage.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB) and Amazon Data Lake.
