Job Title: AWS Architect

Candidates MUST be local to Charlotte, NC area and willing to work a hybrid schedule in the office 3 days/week.

Long-term (12+ months) W-2 Contract to hire role.

NO C2C resumes accepted, only W2 candidates will be considered

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Design and document scalable, secure, and high-performance systems in AWS, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with Software Development teams, Product Managers, and Business Owners to drive architectural decisions and system designs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of cloud-based solutions using AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, EC2, and Aurora DB.
  • Define best practices for system architecture, including security, networking, scalability, and observability.
  • Work closely with DevOps and engineering teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform.
  • Implement and maintain observability solutions using tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Ensure system reliability and performance through logging, monitoring, and proactive alerting strategies.
  • Guide teams on cloud-native security best practices, Well-Architected Framework principles, and cost-optimized AWS usage.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers, fostering best practices in system design and cloud architecture.
  • Troubleshoot complex architectural and performance-related issues, ensuring seamless development, testing, and production environments.
Required Skills:
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including S3, Lambda, ECS, EC2, API Gateway, and Aurora DB.
  • Strong expertise in Terraform, including infrastructure-as-code best practices, modularization, and automation.
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking, including VPC design, subnets, routing, security groups, and load balancing.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, or similar for logging, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Strong background in designing and documenting distributed systems with a focus on high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices and familiarity with AWS IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical documentation and architectural presentations.
