Job Title: Aviation Technical Procedure Writer
Department: Service Department
Reports to: James Schaefer
Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm
Facility location: Chester, CT
Summary: The Repair Department is part of Whelen's Customer Service Department. Electronic Technicians repair or replace products sent from the field that require servicing, working down to the component level of the circuit and replacing components or entire circuit boards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and update Repair Instructions.
- Create and update Technical Binders.
- Coordinate with Whelen's Aviation Chief Engineer and DER on the development and updating of Repair Instructions.
- Conduct periodic reviews to ensure Repair Instructions and Technical Data Binders are current.
- Monitor ECNs and update Repair Instructions and Technical Data Binders accordingly.
- Assist in training FAA Certified Repairmen on Repair Instructions.
- Other duties as needed, including departmental shifts based on workload.
Requirements
- Strong writing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to write clearly and convey instructions effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong interviewing and listening skills.
- Ability to work with aviation lighting and test equipment.
- Effective communication with technicians and management during development and maintenance of Repair Instructions.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Teamwork and flexibility.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Associates Degree or two years of relevant experience preferred.
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Normal color vision.
- Ability to work on electronic circuit boards with small components.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands frequently.
