The Surface TYPE Commander's (TYCOM's) mission is to man, train and equip the U.S. Navy Surface Fleet. This requirement will transfer to the TYCOM, from Commander Maintenance Engineering Planning Program (SURFMEPP), which was established to provide centralized surface ship life cycle maintenance engineering, and class maintenance planning and management closely aligned with the Fleet, Surface Warfare Enterprise, and NAVSEA needs and priorities. Additionally, the Surface TYCOM plays a significant role in the maintenance and modernization of in-service ships throughout their life cycle. This role is centered on a complete, well-engineered, and continuously improving Class Maintenance Plan (CMP) that facilitates the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process, streamlines maintenance processing, develops maintenance strategies, and directly supports surface ship Expected Service Life (ESL) goals. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Availability Work Package Manager (AWPM) supports Fleet and Type maintenance and modernization support to the Surface TYCOM. This is a contingent position expected to be located in the following locations: San Diego, CA Norfolk, VA Mayport, FL The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent. What You'll Do Support TYCOM staffs in the planning, scheduling, and tracking of surface ship maintenance and modernization. Assist with the planning and execution of Fleet alterations. Monitor progress of Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTRs) after turnover from SURFMEPP. Produce deferral and lock letters for TYCOM. Review cost estimates for repairs and alterations, including Business Case Analysis (BCA). Analyze and monitor Class, Fleet, and ISEA advisories. Prepare and deliver briefs, presentations, and After-Action Reports (AARs). Ensure maintenance schedules address Departures from Specifications. Bid and proposal support if requested. Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications: An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in marine engineering, maintenance management, industrial engineering, or other maritime related field; OR 10 of minimum 15 years of experience was gained because of in-depth experience and specialized knowledge in the related field. 15+ years of experience with DoD/Navy program management, Industry or Government technical management, or Industry or Government business management. 15+ years of experience in/with Surface, Submarine, or Aircraft Carrier maintenance and modernization planning and execution. Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Must possess strong time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment. Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking. The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds. The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities. Travel Required 20% travel required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
