Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • May provide oversight over designated project teams and/or contractors performing work onsite.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintaining, repairing and programing Plant Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to ensure reliable, efficient and safe operation of plant process equipment.
  • Supports Operations and Engineering with troubleshooting and improving plant control system operation.
  • Monitors Critical Control Systems and addresses issues safely and with limited oversight.
  • Responsible for Plant Communication Network Infrastructure concepts and configurations.
  • Program control systems software for Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs, Honeywell Experion PKS, Bently Nevada, Prognost, RedLion and other manufacturers.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and replace control system physical components and select components meeting design requirements.
  • Interact with team members to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain project files and folders and follow Company standards.
  • Maintains complete, accurate and regulatory-compliant documentation.
  • Assists with oversight of contractors providing automation services.
  • Provides specifications and related input into capital and expense project planning.
  • Provide weekend and off-hour coverage and support for related tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
  • Familiar with design software i.e. (AutoCAD, and PDMS).
  • Understanding of P&ID's, GA, IO lists, and other related I&C documents.
  • Knowledge of Cisco network devices.
  • Knowledge of ISA Instrument Symbols and Identification.
  • Knowledge or Rockwell PLCs and Honeywell Experion DCS preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office 365 applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others, to company objectives, and willingness to work in all areas required by Operations Manager.
  • Must exhibit a sense of urgency, individual responsibility, and willingness to accept constantly changing priorities.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Instrumentation and Controls Technology, Process Technology or related field preferred. High School Diploma and prior working experience in instrumentation or automation controls required.
  • One year or more of experience relating to control systems in a professional position, internship, apprentice or co-op program preferred.
Certifications:
  • Instrumentation or automation controls certifications preferred.
Travel:

Travel required locally or long-distance up to 20% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.

Equipment:

Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.

Mental and Physical Demands:

Regularly required to walk, stand, crawl, climb stairs and bend; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms over shoulder height; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, bending, balance, depth perception, repetitive arm/hand movements, eye-hand-foot coordination, manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination) finger dexterity, vision acuity (far/near) and hearing acuity. May be required to climb ladders and/or stairs more than 50 ft. and work in confined spaces. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

May be required to spend 50% or greater of time in an outdoor setting. Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Maintain emotional control under stress, work with interruptions and deadlines.

May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Environmental Factors:

May be exposed to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Will work in or around industrial and construction settings, which may include working with chemicals, hazardous products, processes, and materials. Exposure to loud machinery, moving mechanical parts and adverse weather conditions. Gaseous risk exposure and occasional dangerous driving conditions. Will work with petroleum products under high pressure and in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
