Description:

Program, maintain and operate all robots in the welding, blasting, stenciling and painting line with a consistent flow of optimal production.


Job Summary:

This position reports to the Engineering Manager. Develop and design new robotic systems by reviewing, repairing, maintaining, programming and testing systems to improve business operations. Troubleshoot and train individuals to learn preliminary functions of robots. Continuous education encouraged and expected.


Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and/or modifies complex components and systems.
  • Checks newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operation conditions.
  • Communicate within and through the Facilities / Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
  • Communicate across multiple departments to ensure the right equipment is being used to maximize operational efficiency and assist with the planning.
  • Analysis of equipment repairs/solutions and recommendations.
  • Coordinate robot software rollouts to keep the most up to date software running across the robot fleet.
  • Performing basic maintenance on machines to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently in weld, blast, paint and stencil systems.
  • Maintain documentation of all operational activities for future reference.
  • Recommend improvements to the existing system based on analysis of data to increase efficiency or reduce costs.
  • Robotically weld, paint, blast and stencil together according to drawings and specifications.
  • Responsible for programing, troubleshooting, and monitoring robotic welders and setting up robotic welders, blasters and painters.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Ensuring that all safety regulations are met at all times.

Requirements:
  • Experience in maintaining robotic systems (programming and setting up an asset).
  • Experience in the use of tape measures, vernier, and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on your feet while using tools to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude ability to understand complex instructions, how schematics work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, understanding why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors.
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision.
  • Experience in offline programming software (Motosim)
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs with ability to debug and troubleshoot ladder logic.
  • Experience with seam tracking, cameras (Servo robot, Scansonic)
  • Experience with FANUCM71OIC, YASKAWA AR3120, GP165R and MPX3500 robot arms.

Education: BS in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Materials science, or equivalent work experience in a related field.


Experience: 1+ years of experience with robot welding.
