Summary: The Automation Engineer will be involved in implementing new automated processes as well as upgrading and maintaining existing automated equipment in a growing manufacturing environment. This position will require working closely with our engineering and maintenance teams to support manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Updates and maintains machine and robot control programs
- Troubleshoots and repairs or corrects control systems
- Participates in and leads projects to add, upgrade, or replace existing automated equipment and systems within time and budgetary constraints
- Schedules regular updates, upgrades, and maintenance of software, hardware, and programs with production scheduling and maintenance personnel
- Creates and maintains documentation such as manuals and guides for control systems
- Identifies opportunities to improve automated processes, add functionality, and promote safety
- Develops positive relationships with external vendors and contractors
- Communicates effectively and frequently with team members across departments and involved external parties
- Complies with good manufacturing practices and safe quality food regulations
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience in related Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering activities preferred
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers preferred
Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
- Knowledge of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles, automation, robotics, and manufacturing
- Ability to design, program, test, implement, and troubleshoot PLCs and other controls
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project
- Ability to work on and lead multifunctional teams
- Open to learning and expanding skill base
