Automation and Digital Engineer

100% Onsite Pensacola, FL

06+ Months Contract Possibility of Extension or Conversion


We are seeking an experienced Automation and Digital Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology team in Pensacola, FL. This is a fully onsite role with hands-on involvement in automating and digitalizing our manufacturing processes. You will work on designing, building, testing, and commissioning cutting-edge control systems while driving continuous improvement in production efficiency.


Top 3 Skills:

Electrical safety circuits (Category/SIL)

PLC programming (preferably Rockwell)

Troubleshooting/commissioning control systems


Responsibilities:

  • Leverage insights from Gemba walks to identify automation opportunities and build strong business cases.
  • Research emerging technologies and implement state-of-the-art automation and digital solutions.
  • Design, build, test, commission, qualify, and validate new manufacturing technologies, adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance existing equipment and control systems; drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology upgrades.
  • Collaborate in defining and deploying global specifications for automation and digitalization across manufacturing plants.
  • Manage both personal workload and coordinate third-party contractors/vendors using visual management and daily management techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in automation and control engineering roles within manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in interpreting manufacturing and equipment specifications such as schematics and drawings.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing industrial automation systems including instrumentation, local controllers, and supervisory control systems.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with Rockwell Automation products and ideally industrial network design and implementation.

Preferred/Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity with procedures for Change Management in regulated industries; knowledge of Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) processes.
  • Experience in automated batch process control and recipe management (knowledge of ISA-88 standards is highly desirable).
