Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Audio Visual (AV) Event Support Coordinator. This position will be a member of Audio Visual Event Services (AVES is a department within University Events) responsible for providing audio/visual support for events such as live sound, projection, video production including recording/streaming, and general AV assistance for University and community events primarily on the GVL and OCN campuses, but also supporting large events on other campuses. Provides training for faculty, staff, and students on AV infrastructure equipment and software. Works with IT Video Conferencing staff to provide AV support as needed. Maintains accurate inventory of equipment in GVL and requests additional equipment as needed. This position requires occasional evening and/or weekend hours. It will also require travel to all campuses and off-campus destinations requiring audio/visual support. This Position will manage AVES student workers across all campuses and designs training materials for new workers. The AVES Coordinator will report to the Director of AVES.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support for live events to include concerts, major performances, conferences, lectures, graduations, convocations, athletics, etc. for University, Continuing Education, and Public Service events. The scope of the work will include planning, setup, teardown, operation, and maintenance of equipment as needed. Ensure events meet ADA and University adaptability standards and policies. Assist other members of AVES for large-scale events on all campuses and organize student worker schedules and travel documents for work on other campuses as needed.
  • Maintain accurate AVES events schedule and make sure appropriate equipment is in place, support staff are coordinated, and internal/external communication has taken place well before an event occurs. Establish and review communications guidelines with student workers and delegate events to them via the calendar.
  • Manage student workers for AVES, including training on AV equipment, managing event calendar, and supporting events both independently and as part of a larger team. Trains student workers on client communication and customer service. Designs AV training materials for student worker team, manages their schedules, and approves timecards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external constituents via phone, email, or in-person, as needed, pertaining to equipment and services available to meet audio/visual support requests.
  • Maintain currency of skills through training and continual study, including ADA compliance in regards to AV for events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Adobe Master Suite software, understanding of digital media manipulation, non-linear video editing software, media file formats, and conversion tools/utilities.
  • Knowledge of both Mac and Windows based Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to multi-task, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate with team members and users in an effective manner.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability and willingness to stay abreast of and evaluate emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Three years of experience in audio/visual support and/or information technology.
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience using a variety of digital production hardware/software such as audio mixers, audio recorders, video cameras, video switchers, and web streaming interfaces preferred.
  • Experience setting up/operation of audio/visual systems including sound boards, microphones, amps, speakers, and projectors for indoor as well as outdoor events preferred.
  • Experience facilitating video conferences and/or streaming is a plus.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) Preferred.
Proposed Salary

Standard Hiring Range: $21.20 - $23.32
