Reisz Siderman Eisenberg, APC is seeking candidates for a Senior Counsel positionat our established civil litigation defense firm in Los Angeles. This is a supervisory role overseeing matters from inception to resolution, usually paired with a junior associate. The ideal applicant would have 4-10 years' experience practicing law and demonstrate leadership or supervision experience in the context of civil litigation, strong research and writing skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills and communication ability.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct initial senior-level evaluation of claim documentation upon referral and develop initial defense timeline and strategy
  • Conduct defense strategy conferences with clients and insurance claims examiners
  • Coordinate with clients and co-counsel during all phases of discovery; manage all facets of case from discovery through trial
  • Organize and maintain case files; coordinate with secretaries and other staff
  • Review and analyze discovery requests and prepare discovery responses
  • Supervise document reviews with legal team, clients, and vendors
  • Assist with document reviews for responsiveness, case issues, and privilege responses to discovery requests and to identify privileged documents, documents for redaction, case issues in context
  • Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial
  • Prepare court filings
  • Keep accurate time records for fees to clients

Qualifications and skills of ideal candidate include:

  • JD degree and California bar license in good standing
  • 4-10 years of litigation experience
  • Leadership, management, or case supervision experience
  • Strong, concise communication and writing skills
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions
  • Experience in reporting to insurance carriers preferred
  • Experience in preparing/drafting/arguing demurrers, motions to strike, motions for summary adjudication/judgment preferred
  • Familiarity with written and oral discovery is required

Base salary commensurate with experience. Generous quarterly bonus/incentive pay program which begins immediately upon exceeding minimum billing expectation.
