Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Attorney to join our team, specializing in workers' compensation defense. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workers' compensation law and be able to manage a full caseload of defense matters. As an Attorney, you will represent clients in workers' compensation cases, provide legal advice, and develop effective defense strategies in response to claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in the defense of workers' compensation claims, including pre-litigation, mediation, hearings, and trials.
- Review and analyze workers' compensation claims to assess legal issues and formulate defense strategies.
- Advise clients on best practices for managing workers' compensation claims, including risk mitigation and compliance with state and federal laws.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including motions, petitions, settlement agreements, and other pleadings in workers' compensation cases.
- Conduct discovery, depositions, and client interviews in preparation for defense litigation.
- Represent clients in court hearings and workers' compensation arbitrations, advocating for their best interests.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, ensuring favorable outcomes that align with client objectives.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case status, legal options, and recommended actions.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in workers' compensation laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to efficiently manage cases and share knowledge.
- Maintain detailed and organized case files and ensure compliance with all applicable deadlines.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
- A minimum of 1 years of experience in workers' compensation defense.
- Strong knowledge of state workers' compensation laws, rules, and regulations.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proven experience in litigation, including handling motions, hearings, and trials.
- Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in legal practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling high-volume workers' compensation defense cases.
- Certification or specialization in workers' compensation law is a plus.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
