Evaluation Period: - Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per MCS Performance and Assessment procedures
- Annual summative evaluation prior to May 30
Purpose of the Position: Track the attendance of all students in grades 9-12 to ensure optimal attendance and to be sure students are in compliance with state attendance laws.
Classified as Confidential Employee: Functional responsibilities or knowledge in connection with the issues involved in dealings between the school corporation and its employees require strict adherence to confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements: The following qualifications represent the minimum requirements necessary for an individual to perform this position effectively.
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Ability to communicate in a clear and positive way to parents, staff and students
- Proficient technology and keyboarding skills
- Good public relations skills
Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Marion Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.
- Handle correspondence to teachers, parents, judges, and probation and welfare offices.
- Input nurse's daily sheet, due processes, suspension school, suspensions, withdrawals, homebound students, detention center, treatment centers, field trips, and ISS.
- Take calls from parents regarding student absences; make follow-up calls to parents regarding student attendance.
- Prepare student attendance folders.
- Assess truancies and process all paperwork.
- Write readmit slips, appointment slips and messages to students.
- Send messages to faculty and counselors from parents.
- Generate all attendance reports as scheduled and maintain spreadsheets of reports.
- File records.
- Supervise office aides.
- Assist local law enforcement and probation department regarding student records when requested.
- Maintain daily sign out sheet.
- Communicate with Assistant Principals and TCTC regarding student attendance.
- Assist senior guidance counselor with the attendance issues of seniors and keep senior attendance reports.
- Serve on high school attendance committee.
Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Marion Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.
- Provide assistance to the receptionist as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned and as may be necessary by the Building Principal and Superintendent.

- Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.
- Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters.

- Tactfully and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
