Percival Scientific is a well-known manufacturer of controlled environment chambers with customers in more than 75 countries. Our highly innovative scientific equipment that is sold primarily to research labs in the agricultural sector. Clients include colleges/universities, government, and large corporations.


We currently have an opportunity in the Atlantic region of the United States to expand their presence. The role of Territory Sales Manager, Atlantic Region, will support current clients while developing new opportunities in the area. This position will be an integral piece of company expansion and a resource for clients and team members. Position will be remote based but will be required to reside within the territory.


As part of the role, the right candidate will:


  • Partner with our internal teams in developing the right go-to-to-market strategy to engage targeted clients in the area.
  • Find and contact prospective clients through various means including networking, events, phone calls, referrals, social media, etc.
  • Build relationships with research scientists and contacts in colleges and universities, government agencies, private institutions, and corporations.
  • Coordinate the best solution to present to meet the clients' research and organizational needs.
  • Provide reporting and forecasting to the internal teams to ensure effective business planning.
  • Direct interface with customers via prearranged meetings.
  • Outbound prospecting via account/contact research and cold calling to generate and uncover opportunities.
  • Achieve or exceed goal for qualified meetings monthly.
  • Provide research within targeted accounts to identify key contacts and critical account information prior to prospecting call.
  • Produce high level of call and email activity daily.
  • Manage and log activity in SugarCRM daily .
  • Develop strategies to drive new customer sales growth within the current open territory.
  • Responsible to provide detailed product knowledge using highly persuasive presentation skills.
  • Supporting aspects of order entry which include finalization of specifications, determination of production requirements, selection of production methods, interfacing with production for scheduling, order data entry, order tracking and expediting and problem resolution.
  • Resolve customer inquiries by investigating problems; developing solutions; offering prompt resolutions; making recommendations to Vice-President of Sales.
  • Contact clients on a regular basis to maintain good relationships. After sale/delivery contact with customers.
  • Keep Vice-President of Sales informed, as requested, by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and monthly/quarterly/annual territory analyses.
  • Travel will be typically one week a month for client meetings and customer prospecting. Occasionally there may be an additional week of travel for trade or industry shows.
  • Book all travel and maintain weekly expense reports.

The Ideal Candidate:


  • Has an interest in agriculture and technology - Preferred but not required
  • Sales Background with preference in field sales and presentations
  • Willing to accept feedback from all members of our team and implement it as required.
  • 1-2 years' experience in related field
  • Is an active communicator in written, verbal, and in-person forms both with direct-facing customers and with co-workers within and outside of the sales team.
  • Can establish and execute a routine for follow-up communications to actively pursue sales bookings and/or build customer relationships to well-position the client for future opportunities once customer needs arise.
  • Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, & OneNote
  • Prefer knowledge of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software system
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the sales team.
  • Is extremely well-organized, self-motivated, competitive, and driven by success.
  • Is at ease on the phone and able to engage diverse personalities.
  • Is driven and persistent with daily goals to succeed individually and in a team environment.
  • Is interested in gaining intimate knowledge of the agriculture industry.
  • It is creative and thinks creatively to find and sell existing and new products.
