Job Description Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Student Services, this position is responsible for the development, organization, administration, coordination, compliance, and supervision of the College Athletics Program. The director must be a dynamic leader with exceptional administrative, delegation, and organizational skills. The director must work with campus and community constituents to develop innovative and forward-thinking offerings to students of Centralia College.

This non-coaching administrative position reports to the Vice President of Student Services.This leadership position requires substantive knowledge of the offered sports programs, rules and regulations, booster club, emerging athletic programs needs, and travel fund management.The director must demonstrate exceptional communication and leadership while organizing and directing the operations for the athletic programs, as well as developing new sports programs to ensure gender equity and develop new involvement opportunities for students.The person must work closely with the coaches and assistant coaches to ensure all NWAC rules and regulations are followed.

Duties and Responsibilities
•  Develop and maintain close liaison with the sports community within the service district and college staff members including but not limited to the Director of Financial Aid and the Director of Student Involvement.
•  Monitor the preparation of the Athletic Program budgets and present the budget requests to the Associated Students of Centralia College (ASCC) Student Budget Committee. Responsible for the fiscal control and accurate accountability of all funds.Present the budget to the Board of Trustees on an annual basis.
•  Coordinate with the Director of Financial Aid and recommend athletes for financial aid programs and scholarships.
•  Provide leadership and planning to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local laws and college policies.
•  Ensure that all athletes who sign letters of intent are awarded jobs and/or financial aid that is promised by the letters of intent.
•  Supervise field/gymnasium operations, security and student employees.
•  Screen and interview all coaches and assistant coaches and recommend contracts.
•  Administer policies regarding athletes and maintain an effective recruiting system for all sports.
•  Monitor fund raising projects for each sport, including, but not limited to, acting as chairman on raising projects which all sports participated in.
•  Coordinate usage of athletic facilities by campus and outside organizations or interested parties.
•  Ensure proper athletic insurance for each sport.
•  Update, revise and implement all the necessary forms needed for eligibility to participate in the NWAC or other program offerings.
•  Be responsible for the "Athletic Hall of Fame" process.This includes updating the constitution, maintaining the physical site, inducting new members and acquiring the funding needed to continue the process.
•  Serve as Athletic Commissioner for the "Western Region" of the NWAC.
•  Supervise all full-time and part-time department staff including but not limited to program, assistant director, coaches and student workers.
•  Develop and implement an athletic strategic plan that includes a Title IX compliance plan, athletic facilities use plan, and a sports operation plan.
•  Develop and implement a student athletic leadership council.
•  Serve on various college committees and as a member of the Student Services Cabinet.
•  Develop and implement a comprehensive athletic event marketing plan to increase fan participation.
•  Any additional duties as assigned by the Vice president of Student Services. Responsibilities related to NWAC

Conference Level:
•  Ensure compliance with the Code Book by all athletic programs
•  Coordinate preparation of eligibility at appropriate times.
•  Ensure compliance with NWAC due dates for rosters, schedules, photos, statistics, etc.
•  Host All-Star contests ensure remuneration to the NWAC, or other agencies, as appropriate.
•  Prepare accurate grant-in-aid audit for NWAC office at the end of each school year.
•  Ensure proper coaching certification by all coaches and track/update appropriate clinics, conferences, seminars etc.
•  Management of the letter-of-intent process.
•  Serve on sports committees and executive board when appointed.

Regional Level:
•  Keep the Executive Director apprised of situations specifically affecting your institution regarding the possible addition or deletion of any athletic programs.
•  Attend regional commissioners meetings, as appropriate.

Local Level:
•  Ensure seamless communication flows to coaches to ensure all coaches have relevant and timely information.
•  Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with office staff.
•  Ensure the college maintains Title IX and Consumer Information Disclosure compliance.
•  Develop athletic offerings that meet emerging student interests to broaden the array of opportunities for students.
•  In collaboration with the coaches, develop and implement a summer camp schedule for appropriate sports as a way to engage local youth.
•  Ensure CHI is promoted as the student housing option for athletes. Develop policies and procedures to ensure housing is filled annually.
•  Assist the Vice President with student conduct/behavioral matters involving student athletes.
•  Ensure athletes participate in anti-hazing, Title IX and other required training courses.
•  In collaboration with Facilities, develop and implement a field maintenance schedule. Qualifications
•  Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education; athletic/sports administration, physical education, recreation, or related field.
•  At least five years of experience working in athletic administration at the High School or College level.
•  Demonstrated experience in budget management, employee supervision, and fundraising.
•  Knowledge of and experience managing Title IX compliance and promoting equitable access to athletic programs.
•  Demonstrated success collaboratively developing and implementing departmental vision and unity among team members Preferred Qualifications
•  Master's Degree in Higher Education; athletic/sports administration, physical education, recreation, or related field.
•  Familiarity with NWAC rules, regulations, and codes.
•  Familiarity with intercollegiate admissions, recruitment, coaching, financial aid processes, and student retention.
•  Knowledge and experience with athletic facilities management, supervision, and maintenance.
•  Understanding of best practices for attracting and retaining students to rural colleges. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•  Athletic Administration: In-depth knowledge of athletic program management, NWAC regulations, conference affiliations, and institutional policies.
•  Budget & Finance: Understanding of budgeting principles, financial management, fundraising, and revenue generation for athletic programs.
•  Sports Compliance & Legal Regulations: Knowledge of compliance rules, Title IX regulations, eligibility requirements, and risk management in collegiate athletics.
•  Student-Athlete Development: Familiarity with academic advising, career planning, and student-athlete wellness programs.
•  Marketing & Public Relations: Knowledge of sports marketing, sponsorships, media relations, and community engagement strategies.
