Medela LLC is seeking a Software Development Engineer - R&D

You will be contributing to the global research and development of products through embedded software engineering for medical devices and related products aligned to the Medela strategy.
  • Assist in system integration with microprocessor-based hardware and software
  • Help develop and maintain software documentation, including requirements specifications, architecture documents, risk analysis, and design verification
  • Contribute to the software development lifecycle and design controls for FDA-regulated medical devices.
  • Learn how to develop software compliant with IEC 62304 requirements
  • Develop test code and implement test methodologies for our system to ensure high code test coverage.
  • Collaborate with the team to resolve technical problems using analytical skills
  • Assist in establishing software requirements from broad product requirements
  • Gain proficiency with Git for version control, including branching strategies and code review processes
  • Manage time and priorities among multiple tasks, providing updated timelines as needed
  • Gain familiarity with multiple IDEs and maintain development environments
Medela's US-based manufacturing and development facility is headquartered in McHenry, Illinois.

This position requires an on-site presence in McHenry, IL three days a week

Education/Experience Requirements: Associate Software Development Engineer - R&D
  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • Basic knowledge of computer languages including C, C , and Python
  • Experience with embedded serial protocols (SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Experience with reading schematics, using lab equipment, and debugging tools.
  • Understanding of computer principles, communications, networking, and operating systems
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate in English.
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to solve practical problems.
