Our large pharmaceutical client in Spring House, PA is seeking an Associate Scientist to join their growing Biologics Discovery group within their Protein Formulation, Quality Control & Inventory team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the fulfillment of protein and nucleic acid formulation, quality control, inventory distribution, as well as over compliance. The role will be composed of roughly 50% of time in the laboratory and 50% of time communicating, documenting and facilitating sample requests for internal teams. Training is provided for this opportunity and this team provides a lot of room for growth. Other responsibilities include:
- Lead protein, nucleic acid, and cell inventory distribution and transition to a new laboratory information management system (LIMS)
- Implement procedures to maintain accurate sample information within the inventory management system, providing commitment to consistency and quality control
- Communicating and coordinating fulfillment requests and auditing sample data to ensure integrity
- Evaluating and testing the quality of protein, nucleic acid and cell samples utilizing HPLC, FPLC, absorbance, gel electrophoresis, sterility testing and endotoxin testing.
- Analyzing assay results to identify deviations and verify material quality meets specified standards
- Completing bugger exchange, formulating or regenerating materials that are outside of desired specifications as needed
- Communicating with stakeholders regarding inventory requests, providing timeline updates, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address any concerns or issues related to inventory or quality control
- Maintaining organized inventory records and providing updates and effective communication to requestors
- Preparing detailed documentation in laboratory notebooks as needed with timely records of experiments, protocols and observations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field of study
- Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience working with Protein or DNA samples
- Prior experience with mammalian cell culture or purification
- Experience with HPLC, FPLC, absorbance, gel electrophoresis, sterility testing, NGS, or endotoxin testing
- Experience with sample storage within a sterile environment
Salary: $65,000-$90,000 (flexible based on experience)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Hiring Method: Multiyear contract - After 1 year on contract, the individual will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent role or have their contract renewed for another year
PTO: 10 PTO days, 6 paid sick days annually & paid Holidays

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
