Position: Associate Scientist

Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid)

Pay: $90k to $125k/year

Experience:

  • Experience in industrial or academic R&D labs focused on semiconductor technologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and roadmaps (e.g., IRDS, ITRS, CHIPS Act initiatives)
  • Hands-on experience with cleanroom tools, fabrication processes, or advanced metrology techniques is a plus.

Education:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry.
  • Internship or co-op experience in a semiconductor company or research lab is preferred.

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm


Greene Resources has partnered with Semiconductor Research Corporation to find an Associate Scientist to join a growing and dynamic team.


Job Description:

  • Development of science vision that aligns with strategic needs of the Institute.
  • Reviews various scenarios of semiconductor technologies and their applications.
  • Participates in road mapping activities such as MAPT Roadmap and SMART USA Roadmap.
  • Conducts fundamental studies on performance projections, physical limits of future information, and communication technologies
  • Analyzes data using advanced tools and presents findings to internal teams, collaborators, and leadership.
  • Generates technical reports and publications on advanced technology topics relevant to member companies' strategic needs.
  • Organizes and conducts workshops and forums to promote and bring awareness to the Institute and cutting-edge technology.
  • Prepares presentations to deliver at conferences.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on projects, research initiatives, and member support.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, contributing to innovation pipelines and strategic planning.

Position Requirements:

  • Postdoctoral or hands-on R&D experience in semiconductor technologies preferred.
  • Strong background in semiconductor devices, materials characterization, process development, and modeling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with industry challenges such as scaling, power-performance tradeoffs, heterogeneous integration, or advanced packaging.
  • Demonstrated record of publishing or presenting technical work.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, written, verbal, and presentations).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents and convey ideas effectively.
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematics, including calculus, algebra, and statistics.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, including working with abstract concepts and symbolic data (e.g., formulas, graphs).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
