Position Definition: The Associate Principal of Operations shares the responsibility for overall learning environment, safety, and management of the school with the Principal and other building administrators. The Associate Principal of Operations supports all aspects of the instructional program, the school environment, and the operational/fiscal health of the school. The Associate Principal of Operations supports the Principal in focusing all available resources on having students reach their potential as self-directed learners and responsible citizens.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Explicitly model, through communication and actions, the core values and beliefs in the district's goals and mission;
- Supports all facets of the school improvement process to fulfill the school's mission, goals, and objectives and results in increased student learning while supporting the District Strategic Plan.
- Assists the principal and other administrators with creating and managing the learning environment, safety, and management of the building;
- Supervises and provides leadership for athletics, student activities, and before and after school programming;
- Works with the principal, other administrators and central office personnel to coordinate a comprehensive, consistent educational program and to acquire educational materials and services
- Under the leadership and direction of the principal, manages the building budget to ensure fiscal health of the school. The Associate Principal of Operations assists the Principal in ensuring all available financial and other resources are allocated to efficiently and effectively support students and appropriate personnel and agencies.
- Oversees building's construction and upkeep of facilities, grounds, and parking areas;
- Works with central office personnel and school staff to foster professional growth;
- Assists the principal with parent and community support and involvement;
- Supervises and evaluates personnel according to Board of Education policy, negotiated agreements, and law.
- Works with the principal and other administrators to create and implement programs for the recognition of achievement of students, staff, and school;
- Assists with supervision of evening and weekend school-related events;
- Assists in the administration of the school day and may be delegated to assume the duties of other administrators in their absence
- Implements the district discipline expectations that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staff, in collaboration with the District level administration.
- Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions
- Actively participates in Assistant Principal meetings, district committees as appropriate, and attends meetings in place of the Principal as needed
- Identifies resources and activities that connect and engage families in support of student learning.
- Supports the school and district focus on student and staff social emotional health and well being; Engages in continuous learning and commit to professional growth in areas which support or improve the development of SEL
- Attains personal proficiency in district-supported technology platforms, applications, and tools
- Assumes additional duties as assigned or delegated by the Principal
Education - Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrator Endorsement and/or Principal Endorsement
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher Evaluator (Modules 1-5)
- Administrative assistant principal experience preferred
- Previous supervisory experience as building-level administrator required
- Extensive knowledge of policy and procedures as it relates to building operations and maintenance
- Knowledge of middle schools and ability to work with both students and adults
- Goal-oriented with strong team-building skills

Performance Evaluation/Accountability: Performance evaluated annually in accordance with Illinois School Code and D300 Administrative Procedures
