Job Summary
The Associate Director of Student Staff and Personnel is a full time, 12 month, management position reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services. The Associate Director of Student Staff and Personnel is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation and discipline for all undergraduate and graduate positions within the Office of Residence Life Housing and Dining Services.
This includes but is not limited to:
Develop and oversee a recruitment plan for all undergraduate and undergraduate positions.Serve as the office liaison to Human Sources and Graduate AdmissionsProvide direct supervision over 5 Residence Coordinators and incidental supervision over 8 graduate Resident Directors and 250 undergraduate staff.Create and facilitate training for graduate, professional, and undergraduate staff in July/Aug, January and intermittently based on need through out the year. Oversee the department's Student Staff Discipline Model.Oversee the department's evaluation process for student staff. Serve as the advisor to the Assistant Resident Director group and facilitate the group's weekly meetings.Foster a culture of retention through intentional forecasting and initiatives. Lead team in well-timed efforts to be ahead of student needs. Prepare team for intervention strategies and follow up to ensure efforts are meaningful and successful.Work closely with the Assistant Vice President and other central office team members on all processes and protocols, including proper communication with all constituents.There is night and weekend work associated with the position and the Associate Director will be expected to be present at several afterhours department initiatives. The position is live on preferred and the individual serving in the capacity of Associate Director will serve in an on-call rotation.The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice President of Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services and serves as their designee when appropriate. Bachelor's Degree5 or more years progressive experience in Residence Life and Housing Experience supervising staffCultural competency as it relates to working with diverse populationsStrong organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as programs, services and University calendar as neededPreferred Qualifications
Master's DegreeExperience working in a unionized environment.Experience advising a student groupExperience working with a Student Information System (i.e. PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.)Experience working with Housing Process Software (The Housing Director, My College Roomie, Campus Kaizen) Experience working with Disability Services Ability to live on campus Supplemental Information
