Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
Assumes the primary responsibility for developing, maintaining, and coordinating employer relations efforts to support students and alumni through campus and community engagement leading to career experiences and post-graduation success. Serves as a key team member and provides assistance in the delivery of programs and services through the Career Development Center.
OUTCOME:
Coordination and implementation of strong employer relations program and strategy; integrations of career competencies into the curriculum and co-curriculum; provide essential career development programming and services.
Essential Functions
Employer Relations Strategy, Relationship Management, and Growth 65%
Develop, implement and grow a comprehensive campus-wide employer relations strategy, including connecting and developing communication and tracking among all of the campus offices and programs that interact with employers and external partners.Build relationships with external and internal constituents to expand experiential and post-graduate opportunities for all academic programs, foster real-world learning and skill development, and actively partner with Advancement and Alumni Relations to expand networking between students, alumni and employers.Coordinate employer engagement efforts and interactions with students through a variety of channels including job fairs, employer mock interviews, panels, workshops, recruitment, site visits, and other efforts. Demonstrate ability to work with a diverse student population, and serve as an advocate for that diversity.Student/Alumni Service & Events, Outreach & Engagement 25%Integrate and advance career readiness and professional development across campus leveraging employer relationships and best practices, including Academic Affairs/Schools/faculty, Student Success, Advancement, Community Engagement and Student Life. Provide direct support to students and alumni through appointments, workshops, and class presentations.Oversee communications to students and employers regarding employer related activities and support all Career Center marketing and communication efforts (newsletters, campus marketing, family portal etc.).Represent York College and the Career Center at on and off campus events for prospective and current students, alumni, employers and the community. Support major campus events related to admissions, orientation, commencement, and special events.Assessment, Evaluation, and Career Systems 10%Manage data, systems, and assessment related to employer activities, job and internship postings, and actively support all Career Center assessment efforts.Experience and Education Required
- Master's degree required in higher education, student affairs, business, counseling, or related field
- At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in employer relations, or collegiate recruitment, training and development
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience and success in sales, business development, or relationship management with demonstrated experience effectively communicating the needs of employer partners to inform professional development and skill-building initiatives in a university setting.Demonstrated ability to work professionally with both internal and external constituents; Ability to interpret and teach career exploration, development, internship, and recruitment best practices.Proven ability to partner as an excellent teammate with sound work ethic, communication, initiative, and dedication to career exploration and professional development in a college setting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills; Demonstrated project management, event planning and organizational skills; Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments.Creative and innovative mindset to develop effective strategies to serve an ever-evolving student and employer population with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Proficiency in using career management software (Handshake), Microsoft Office suite, promotional and/or creative software. Available to manage 25% travel, including evenings, weekends and holidays.Additional Information
