Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. As a leader in muscle biology and the mechanics of muscle performance, the company is developing small molecule drug candidates specifically engineered to impact myocardial muscle function and contractility.
The Associate Director will support the development of the U.S. patient and loved ones strategy for aficamten for the treatment of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM). This position will work closely with a broad array of US stakeholders to drive execution of the aficamten launch plan and will be responsible for all elements of the US promotional platform for oHCM patients and their loved ones. They will also work across teams to develop adherence/compliance strategies, patient education services, manage patient ambassador programs, and lead educational and field support initiatives.
This role reports directly to the Director of US Patient Marketing for aficamten and requires strategic contribution and independent activity management. The individual must drive performance and marketing excellence through collaboration and partnership.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of the US brand strategy for patients/loved ones, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
- Manage patient initiation, treatment, and compliance strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and track success metrics for patient engagement and adherence.
- Establish and manage branded and unbranded patient ambassador programs, collaborating with patient support and advocacy teams.
- Coordinate with field teams to implement key executional materials.
- Support the development of a comprehensive patient launch plan, including HUB services and digital experiences.
- Develop and execute innovative patient/caregiver marketing campaigns to inspire behavioral change and support brand growth.
- Manage budgets and support quarterly reviews, tracking program success metrics.
- Partner with patients and advocacy organizations, ensuring brand strategy is central to all promotional efforts.
- Work with market research and analytics to inform decision-making.
- Coordinate with Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to ensure compliant execution of tactics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience, including at least 4 years in US pharmaceutical marketing.
- US launch experience required; cardiovascular therapeutic category and/or REMS experience preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and execute patient marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Experience in rare diseases and creating unique patient experiences is preferred.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate customer insights into marketing strategies.
- Self-starter capable of managing multiple projects independently.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory environments in pharmaceutical promotions.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and analytical skills.
In the U.S., the salary range is $221,000-$245,000, with actual offers based on experience, location, and other factors.
