The Associate Director/Director will operationalize content strategy central to portfolio delivery. They will implement global initiatives and lead GSC TA/BU team members, providing technical and administrative leadership to support Lilly's portfolio advancement. This individual will develop a flexible organization that can respond to changes in the pipeline and continue to deliver on evolving business demands and external expectations. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Global Scientific Communications (GSC) - Portfolio & Capability (Regulatory Strategy, Regulatory Execution, or Publications)
Primary ResponsibilitiesTherapeutic Strategy Execution of Regulatory Submission, Approval and Publication Strategy
- Provide purposeful, label-driven regulatory documents leveraging innovation in authoring and positioning the Target Product Profile (TPP) or Draft Launch Label (DLL) as the "North Star".
- Partner with business leaders to ensure scientific communication deliverables are understood and integrated into broader medical molecule plans/TA plans.
- Deliver publication strategies which reflect an understanding of the external environment (i.e., information/knowledge gaps in the literature), timely, appropriate disclosure of Lilly research, and new technology/requirements used to disclose data and evidence.
- Ensure communication strategies and plans are effectively integrated into Medical Affairs and/or Brand/TA work plans.
- Partner closely with other development and administrative functions to deliver sanctioned projects using global resourcing tools, GSC capabilities, and vendors.
- Drive efficiency and continuous improvement in the organization and, as appropriate, cross-functionally to support therapeutic area and Business Unit aligned deliverables.
Leadership
- Within functional and cross-functional teams, exhibit strong business acumen, strong problem-solving skills and agility to adjust to changing business priorities and needs.
- Maintain awareness of external environment through benchmarking, external collaborations, contacts and professional organization involvement, and represent the organization at appropriate internal and external venues.
- Ensure that activities are performed according to established guidelines, best practices, and in compliance with all laws and regulations while driving continuous improvement of key performance metrics
- Leverage understanding of strategy and historic knowledge of GSC operations to provide guidance to staff/leaders driving content delivery
- Drive shared learning of best practices across other CDDA and broader Lilly functions; drive the incorporation of these learnings within GSC.
People Management and Development
- Recruit, develop, and retain a capable workforce skilled and knowledgeable in scientific communications.
- Effectively build and manage an agile organization that meets the needs of a changing portfolio while encouraging a culture of inclusion and innovation
- Develop and elevate staff performance following Lilly's coaching-centric and performance management tools to demonstrate expertise in drug development, therapeutic area science, and critical thinking.
- Develop an organization that demonstrates judgment-based decision making.
Project Management
- Interface/influence across functions/externally to ensure alignment with related cross- functional projects.
- Ensure resources are aligned across GSC, CDDA, Quality, Medical Affairs, CMC, and Finance, and with key external partners.
- Participate in communicating, planning, and implementing across GSC geographies and through vendors to ensure resources alignment to TA/BU content strategies.
- Review objectives, define, and initiate measures to assess delivery success; develop, monitor, and communicate metrics to ensure delivery against timeline, budget, and scope.
- Resolve and/or escalate as appropriate conflicts in priorities, resources, scope and direction across projects.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated ability to follow and mentor on functional policies and procedures.
- Experienced leading delivery in a team environment or cross functional environment
- Experience forecasting and managing resource and budget allocation.
Other Information/Additional Preferences:- Previous supervisory experience and leading a team
- Bachelor's or Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MBA) in a healthcare or scientific field
- Strong background in the creation and delivery of regulatory, publication, and/or healthcare communication plans
- Six Sigma and/or Project management experience

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$118,500 - $173,800
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
