Position Summary
The University of Providence seeks an accomplished academic administrator to serve as its inaugural Associate Dean for the School of Health Professions (SHP). This role carries primary administrative responsibility for all SHP academic programs, including accreditation, curriculum, enrollment and retention, and policies and procedures. The Associate Dean will ensure the quality of all SHP programs, guiding them to meet their objectives and maintain national accreditation and state regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include program assessment, curriculum development, and fostering continuous improvement across all programs. The role also oversees program operations and collaborates with the Dean, university departments, Providence Health System, and regional leaders to ensure cohesive structures and processes for all programs. This full-time on-campus administrative position is eligible for tenure and a UP faculty appointment.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Strategic Planning: Supports the Dean, leads special projects, and contributes to academic-related contracts and grants.
- Academic Delivery: Develops infrastructure for academic delivery and collaborates with support services.
- Clinical Coordination: Manages clinical placements and ensures quality learning experiences.
- Co-creation: Collaborates with stakeholders to design and evaluate programs aligned with workforce needs.
- Policy, Accreditation, and Quality Assurance: Ensures compliance with academic policies and accreditation standards.
- Data Management and Reporting: Collects and reports program data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Program Development and Improvement: Leads program enhancement using best practices and assessments.
- Operational Oversight: Oversees daily operations and special projects.
- Interprofessional Education: Develops interprofessional initiatives with Providence Health System.
- Student Experience: Ensures a quality student experience from recruitment to graduation.
- Team Collaboration: Promotes effective teamwork and reflects the University's mission.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Fosters a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Shared Governance: Liaises with governance committees on academic matters.
- Professional Development: Stays current in higher education and health professions.
- Representation and Advocacy: Represents the School's interests internally and externally.
- Faculty Role: Fulfills academic responsibilities as negotiated with the Dean.
Requirements
Education
- Doctorate (PhD, Ed.D.) from an accredited university required.
- Preferred: Health profession academic degree (non-nursing) from an accredited program.
Experience
- Progressive experience in higher education leadership.
- Success in academic program development and evaluation.
- Expertise in curriculum design and assessment.
- Experience with accreditation and online education.
- Academic networking and integration of best practices.
- Scholarly achievements including publications and presentations.
Licensure
If eligible, must hold a current, unencumbered professional license and be eligible for Montana licensure.
