The Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) is looking for a tenured member of the UNL graduate faculty to serve as the next Associate Dean. This key leadership role oversees a dynamic team of four full-time staff who provide programming for current graduate and professional students, professional development for post-doctoral fellows at UNL, and coordination of onboarding and orientation of new students. The Associate Dean also provides oversight for our pipeline to graduate school programs such as Summer Research Program.

The Associate Dean's team is responsible for student support and development programs for graduate and professional students and post-doctoral fellows, including orientation and training events (e.g., individual development plans, teaching workshops, Preparing Future Faculty, and teaching assistant training) and supporting best practices for graduate education in graduate programs. The Associate Dean leads OGS contributions to faculty-led training grants, including helping identify opportunities and facilitating interdepartmental teams. The Associate Dean supervises four full-time staff and stands in when the Dean is unavailable.

The Associate Dean serves on the OGS Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction and daily operations of the Office of Graduate Studies. There are opportunities to connect with peers in higher education and travel to BTAA and Council of Graduate Schools meetings.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about graduate and professional education and who is committed to university values and strategic goals, including student retention and supporting the success of every student. This is an excellent opportunity to gain administrative experience while maintaining one's research/creative activity and departmental connections.
