Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Community Engagement in the College of Education. In relation to Faculty Affairs for the College of Education, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Community Engagement will work with the college on faculty supports from recruitment to retention and professional development; they will work with faculty and leadership on curricular development and following processes relative to curricular development and implementation; they will work with leadership on the development and adherence to policy and procedures; and they will assist department heads with faculty issues and concerns. Relative to community engagement, the Associate Dean will work with college on college-wide projects, centers, and institutes; they will work with all aspects of recruitment, including dual enrollment initiatives; and they will work with the dean on new initiatives relative to advancement and development projects.

Responsibilities

1. In collaboration with the department heads, supervise hiring, on-board new faculty members, and support junior faculty members in their efforts to secure tenure and promotion and provide support to the non-tenure-track faculty.
2. Coordinate activities to enhance the professional development of the faculty and staff.
3. Handle faculty and staff personnel actions, as appropriate.
4. Work with faculty on the development of research, particularly in reference to grant and fellowship projects, study abroad projects, and other projects relative to research and development.
5. Work with faculty on the development of and adherence to policies and procedures within the College of Education
6. Work with leadership and faculty on curricular projects, including helping with the institutional curriculum submission process and the college-wide processes.
7. Lead recruitment initiatives across the college, including dual enrollment initiatives and work with the Georgia Department of Education, the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Professional Standards Commissions, the Technical System of Georgia, and any other entities that might have a stake in enrollment and/or enrollment and recruitment initiatives.
8. Work with the Appalachian Studies Centers and any new centers or institutes.
9. Work with the dean on advancement and development projects.
10. Serve as a part of the COE Leadership Team and perform other duties as assigned by the dean.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current national and state accreditation and program approval standards
  • Professional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collegially with members of the faculty and utilize opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Commitment to being a collaborative team member
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Education, research, or related field appropriate for tenure-track faculty lines within the UNG College of Education.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level.
  • At least five years of prior leadership experience in a role involving supervision and evaluation of employees.
  • Experience with supervision and evaluation of employees.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of scholarly activity.
  • Experience with accreditation.
