The Associate Cloud Engineer is a qualified computer system and network technologist problem-solving experience assigned to the Infrastructure Product Development Group - Cloud Solutions Team. The CE is team-oriented independent thinker, responsible for engineering support services that covers setting up Cloud infrastructure security protections as well as all associated compute, storage and network design compliance, builds and deployments. This person is required to train and certify on St. Luke's Information Technology Cloud Foundations Course in addition to industry-based qualifications. This is to establish and sustain consistent best practices, skill sets and process maintenance related to IaaS and PaaS engineering and automation support. The work involves cloud support, administrative updates and technical documentation upkeep such as publishing KB articles to ensure process relevancy, operational integrity and service value.
The Associate Cloud Engineer will be required to conduct stewardship training of peers, system and network engineers on service procedures, programming and automation scripting. This individual is experienced in automation scripting and will perform various levels of cloud service testing, performance analysis, functional validations, migrations and general operational support.
The Associate Cloud Engineer will work with internal and external IT teams involved in technology development, system integration and associated system services. They will work with Information Technology's service management programs providing engineering support of PMO Projects/Demands and associated Maintenance and Break-Fix services. The CE is expected to lead Cloud planning efforts, schedule and execute on all associated deployment commitments. This includes but is not limited to building and/or migrating applications, compute, storage and network infrastructures, associated software/hardware utilities and components as well as tagging and configuring monitoring points for data and financial analysis systems for cloud operations. The Associate Cloud Engineer will support evaluating and integrating cloud-based software used by the organization and be responsible for all aspects of cyber security policy enforcement, platform monitoring, file back-up/restorations and disaster recovery services with cloud deployments.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Guides development and integration of Infrastructure Product Development Cloud platforms for St. Luke's University Health Network Information Technology Department.
- Conducts technology research, development and integration programs and related IT services for transition over to IT operations for daily management.
- Develops Infrastructure products according to operational requirements for IT Infrastructure that ensures stability and optimal system up time across the entire health network.
- Works closely with clients and peers on project/demand management for technology deployments and integration schedules for on-going operations and maintenance.
- Focuses on continual refinement of infrastructure products and platform development services to ensure value alignment and relevance to the demands of the business.
- Implements plans for associated technical product and platform SOP documentation and upkeep for on-going technical maintenance services.
- Serves as a technology consultant with regard to Infrastructure Development technology research, and integration.
- Develops technology product and platforms for IT Disaster Recovery planning, serving as a participant of a Disaster Recovery Team in a test and/or disaster event.
- Collaborates with other teams and team members to develop technology products and platforms against strict criteria for operating functionality.
- Provisions Tier-3 SME escalation services for Break/Fix, Incident and Change management support, equipment installations and decommissioning.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY DEMANDS: Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Requires crouching, kneeling, and lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds, pushing objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Requires hand and finger dexterity to perform repairs of small equipment and to use computer equipment.
EDUCATION: - High School Diploma/GED is required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: - 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering required
- 1-3 years of experience in cloud systems required
- St. Luke's IT/IPD - Cloud Foundations Course, examination and certification required
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate required
- Microsoft Cloud certifications required
