Associate Civil Engineer

12-month Contract-to-Hire

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team within the Electric Utility industry. As an essential member of the engineering group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, analysis, and maintenance of civil and structural components associated with our utility infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to the reliability and resilience of our electric utility systems.

Responsibilities:
Structural Design and Analysis:
Assist in the design and analysis of civil and structural components for utility infrastructure, including transmission towers, substation structures, and foundations.
Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure designs meet regulatory and industry standards for safety and reliability
Site Evaluation and Assessment:
Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess the condition of existing structures, providing recommendations for repairs or upgrades as necessary.
Assist in performing geotechnical investigations to inform foundation design.
Project Support:
Work closely with project teams to provide civil/structural engineering input for new construction, upgrades, and maintenance projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of civil/structural aspects into overall project plans.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for civil and structural projects.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance and future reference.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed about relevant codes, standards, and regulations to ensure designs comply with all necessary requirements.
Support the preparation of permit applications and regulatory submissions.
Collaboration and Communication:
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Participate in internal and external meetings to present findings, discuss project status, and address engineering-related queries.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
EIT/FE certification; pursuing or willingness to pursue PE licensure.
Strong understanding of civil/structural engineering principles and their application to utility infrastructure.
Proficiency in engineering software tools for structural analysis and design.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Previous entry-level position; experience through internships or co-op programs is a plus.
