A law firm seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its San Diego, CA office. This Full time position offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1-3 years of litigation experience, particularly in business and employment defense. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing discovery, conducting legal research, drafting motions, and representing clients in court. Duties
- Manage all aspects of discovery, including propounding and responding to discovery requests, and analyzing evidence using litigation support software.
- Conduct legal research and write detailed reports, briefs, and memoranda utilizing Westlaw and other legal resources.
- Draft motions, including motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and other pre-trial filings.
- Represent clients in court, attending hearings, depositions, and other proceedings as required.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to build effective defense strategies in business and employment-related cases.
- Maintain client relationships through regular communication and updates on case progress.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of litigation experience, with a focus on business and employment defense.
- Prior experience in legal research, discovery, and motion drafting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for clients in court.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment.
- Proficiency with litigation support software and legal research platforms like Westlaw.
- Experience handling court appearances and interacting with clients.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility to practice in California.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of business and employment law, with an emphasis on defense strategies.
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and courtroom presence.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple cases simultaneously.
