We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling cases from inception to resolution and demonstrate exceptional litigation skills, particularly in insurance defense. The role provides an opportunity to work on a diverse caseload involving auto accidents, trucking damages, premises liability, homeowners' association (HOA) matters, property disputes, and medical malpractice cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Independently manage and oversee 10-15 insurance defense cases from start to finish, including auto accidents (25%), trucking damages (25%), and other complex cases like premises liability, HOA, property disputes, and medical malpractice (50%). Some cases may involve first-party coverage matters.
  • Law & Motion Work:
  • Handle procedural matters, including ex parte applications and motions related to pleadings.
  • Draft and argue discovery-related motions such as motions to compel, though we take a cooperative approach to discovery disputes.
  • Discovery: Conduct and oversee all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission, organizing document reviews, and strategizing case development based on discovery outcomes.
  • Client and Carrier Communications: Build strong relationships with clients and insurance carriers by providing regular case updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Depositions: Once fully integrated into the role (approximately 4-5 years), take or defend 1-2 depositions per week.
  • Trial Support: While trial experience is not mandatory, it is a plus. There is strong trial expertise within the team for collaborative case preparation and courtroom litigation when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing with the state bar.
  • 4+ years of litigation experience preferred, with a focus on insurance defense cases.
  • Proficiency in law and motion work, including drafting and arguing procedural and discovery motions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in client and insurance carrier interactions.
  • Experience conducting depositions (preferred but not mandatory for junior candidates).
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to litigation and problem-solving
